I think that most people love Italian food best because not only is it exquisite in taste with bountiful variations and possibilities, it is also not over bearing as Asian food can be at times, leaving you feeling relaxed and content rather than your belly being bloated.
Eating out in Italy is a wonderful experience and you can uncover some fantastic traditional rustic trattoria's full of old family recipes and serving fresh local ingredients in your supper. However, if Rome is merely a delirious daydream and you are stuck in the UK you can still enjoy some incredible Italian restaurants.
Dining out in the UK is big business and it is not only the capital cities where you can find some top Italian nosh. There are fantastic Italian restaurants up and down our small island and whether you are guzzling gazpacho in Glasgow or picking at pizza in Plymouth, the taste of Italy is always inspiring.
One restaurant I discovered when holidaying on the south coast was a Bournemouth Italian restaurant. It is located fairly near the new surf reef which is being built there and I have never had such delicious food. There menu is classic yet with a few twists, no doubt local traditions. I'm a vegetarian and sometimes find a lack of choice when eating out but certainly not in this Bournemouth Italian Restaurant. All the ingredients were so fresh and I had the best Fiorentina pizza ever, which is spinach and egg, quite an unusual sounding combination - think eggs Florentine, but it really works.
Service is really important in an Italian restaurant and in this Bournemouth Italian restaurant the waiters were able to speak in depth about where the ingredients came from, make recommendations and even suggest wine to go with the food. This made the whole dining out experience much more enjoyable and I regularly find myself going back for a spot of spaghetti and a scoop of pistachio ice cream.
The fact that this Bournemouth Italian Restaurant cooks its pizza the traditional way also adds to the experience. There is a distinctive rustic flavour to a stone baked pizza and knowing it has been stretched out to its thinnest possible thickness by being thrown repeatedly into the air before being smothered in garlicy tomato sauce and the finest quality mozzarella, makes this Bournemouth Italian Restaurant hard to beat.
